It’s vital for both performance and security to keep your website and your emails hosted separately, though of course they can still share the same domain name. This separation helps to protect against “doomsday scenarios”, so if for example your website gets hacked (which is one reason you need proper security), your emails would still remain safe and vice versa.
This is the primary reason I don’t include email hosting in my standard website service. Instead, I recommend the excellent G Suite by Google.
